Time for a Bathtub Party! (December 5th) This post has few songs older adults might enjoy singing when celebrating or when talking about baths.
As noted in the 3 “B”eautiful Resources:
People have enjoyed baths for thousands of years. The ancient Romans had public baths where people might take a dip in a hot tub, a break in a sauna and a refresh in a cold pool.
In the 1940’s the average American bathed once a week. Today, a daily shower is a common occurrence. Yet, a bath can still be enjoyed as a way to relax and cleanse.
Here are a few bath related songs older adults may recognize and enjoy:
- Splish Splash I was Taking a Bath
- Rubber Duckie
- Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair
- Flushed From the Bathroom of Your Heart (Johnny Cash)
For those working with preschoolers, check out Bath Time Songs. I love these ideas shared by Let’s Play Kids Music. The Madison Public Library has this great list of children’s books and partner songs about bathes.
