Topics for conversation might include discussion on wind energy, sailing, names for the wind, and items people have lost in the wind. Share folktales about the wind.
While few may know “Deep Peace” by Donovan, it is a beautiful and simple piece that mentions the wind and air perfect to close a session of sharing wind songs.

I’ve got a couple other ideas with Singable Picture Books:
WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND? (Poem by Christina Georgina Rossetti, Traditional Tune, is illustrated in many children’s poetry compilations)
HOME ON THE RANGE (Poem by Dr. Brewster M. Higley, Music by Daniel E. Kelly, has at least 2 illustrated books)
BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND (has a beautiful illustration by Jon Muth)
OKLAHOMA (is illustrated in a darling book by Rosemary Wells)
Hilarious WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND on the Muppets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu_6hdGZ6gU
WIND IN THE WILLOWS (has a few delightful poems in it which have been set to music)
BEST WISHES!! Emily
Ooo! One more…I meant to put in A MERRY NOTE also called WINTER SONG by William Shakespeare (from “Love’s Labour’s Lost”)…”When all aloud the wind doth blow…” it has also been set to music by a number of composers and appears illustrated in its own book by Melanie Hall and many illustrated compilations. BEST
Love ALL your beautiful suggestions, Emily! Singable books are beautiful ways to share songs.
How ’bout: “The Wayward Wind”
Oldie
Ooh, a real classic. Thanks Oldie!
Depending on the “Down in the Valley” version you know, the first verse includes “hear the wind blow.”
A client introduced me to Arlo Guthrie’s lovely “Highway in The Wind”:
