Wind Song

World Wind Day and Ride the Wind Day are June 9th. Wind songs are blowing in! Here’s a few to get you going. Most are target towards older adults though a few are children’s songs and some may be appealing to other generations.

  • Blowin’ in the Wind
  • Blow Ye Winds in the Morning
  • They Call the Wind Mariah
  • Oklahoma (“Where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain”)
  • Everyone Knows it’s Windy
  • Summer Wind
  • Four Strong Winds
  • The Wind Beneath My Wings
  • The Windmills of Your Mind
  • Candle in the Wind
  • Dust in the Wind
  • The Sun is a Very Magic Fellow (..the wind is a very fickle fellow)
  • The North Wind Doth Blow
  • I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles
  • Colors of the Wind
  • Windy Weather
  • Rock-a-bye- Baby (when the wind blows)
  • The Windmill Song

Topics for conversation might include discussion on wind energy, sailing, names for the wind, and items people have lost in the wind. Share folktales about the wind.

While few may know “Deep Peace” by Donovan, it is a beautiful and simple piece that mentions the wind and air perfect to close a session of sharing wind songs.
