Be sure you put on sunscreenWe teach children to do many things for their health such as brushing their teeth and washing their hands. Sometimes a song can help a child remember the steps needed to complete a task.

With sun and summer time activities on my mind, I thought about the things we wear to keep us safe – sunglasses and sunscreen came to mind. There aren’t many steps to putting on sunglasses but there are many steps to applying sunscreen. So, I went in search of a simple song that reminds children to how to put on sunscreen. I found none.

Off I went and created lyrics based upon steps for applying sunscreen to the tune of “Found a Peanut”.

1. Don’t get burned. Don’t get burned. Keep your skin healthy.

Before you go out in the sun be sure you put on sunscreen.

2. Put it on your face. Put it on your nose. Put it on your ears.

Before you go out in the sun be sure you put on sunscreen.

3. Put it on your neck. Put it on your arms. Put it on your shoulders, too. ….

4. Put it on your legs. Put it on your feet. Have a parent get your back…..

5. Don’t get burned. Don’t get burned. Keep your skin healthy.

Before you go out in the sun be sure you put on sunscreen.
