November 21st is National Hello Day. Greeting people is a social skill we learn as children. It is a way of acknowledging those around us. Believe it or not, the word “hello” came into existence around 1829.

Most music therapy sessions begin with a greeting or hello song. I asked my Twitter and Facebook friends what songs they used and here is what I received.

No particular group:

Lisa Lingus shared this one on Facebook: “Hello, Hello, Hello, What a wonderful word”

Preschool:

@ Currently using the song "Hello my friends," combined with "Stand Up, Wiggle." #ece #prek

Older Adult:

@ faves: if I knew you were coming I'd've baked a cake; hey good lookin' (the fellas really like that one)

Carolyn D.

Faith Halverson-Ramos recommended “Hello, I Love You” for the boomers!

@ if they were sleeping when I arrived, "Beautiful Dreamer" but softly. If they still slept, I left and returned later.
