Pop (a sing-along) into the movies

October is popcorn month. As there aren’t tons of music besides Popcorn, I did a little thinking. I relate popcorn to making strings of popcorn to decorate a tree (feed wildlife) and when I watch a movies. So…how about a sing along filled with movie classics! (Or this would make for great Jeopardy material.)

Having worked many years in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, I have some recommendations here for those caregivers, family members, and volunteers working with older adults:

  • “As Time Goes By” from Casablanca
  • Back in the Saddle Again” from Back in the Saddle
  • “Do-Re-Me/Do a Deer” from the Sound of Music
  • “Edelweiss” from the Sound of Music
  • “Hey, Look Me Over” from Wlidcat
  • Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s
  • “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” from Oklahoma
  • “Raindrop Keep Falling on My Head” from Butch Cassidy & the Sunshine Kid
  • “Scarborough Fair” from The Graduate
  • Singing in the Rain” from Singing in the Rain
  • “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of OZ
  • Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins
  • The Lion Sleeps Tonight” from The Lion King
  • When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio
  • Whistle While You Work” from Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
  • “White Christmas” from Holiday Inn
