October is popcorn month. As there aren’t tons of music besides Popcorn, I did a little thinking. I relate popcorn to making strings of popcorn to decorate a tree (feed wildlife) and when I watch a movies. So…how about a sing along filled with movie classics! (Or this would make for great Jeopardy material.)
Having worked many years in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, I have some recommendations here for those caregivers, family members, and volunteers working with older adults:
- “As Time Goes By” from Casablanca
- “Back in the Saddle Again” from Back in the Saddle
- “Do-Re-Me/Do a Deer” from the Sound of Music
- “Edelweiss” from the Sound of Music
- “Hey, Look Me Over” from Wlidcat
- “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s
- “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” from Oklahoma
- “Raindrop Keep Falling on My Head” from Butch Cassidy & the Sunshine Kid
- “Scarborough Fair” from The Graduate
- “Singing in the Rain” from Singing in the Rain
- “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of OZ
- “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins
- “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” from The Lion King
- “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio
